Kunstschalter” at Richmod's Passage

From Producers´Art Gallery to provider agency of art marketing and management

After, for us completely unexpectedly, the landlord of Weyerstraße 30 changed, the rental demand rose by 30%, so we ended the “Kunstschalter” producers´gallery in January 1993.

Gone was the quiet shop near Cologne Barbarossaplatz with a large basement, which besides my glass engraving workshop with sufficient space also hosted Rainer Resch with his art edition "ONE of HUNDRED". My colleagues Alejandro Scasso and Nini Flick moved into other studios and I moved with my workshop into the studio of the black-light Neon Painter Frank de Lentdecker in Cologne-Bayenthal.
With Gabriele Thümmler in February 1993 I founded the “Kunstschalter Agency” at Richmod's Passage at Neumarkt

TATA WEST / TATA EAST - Petra Wazlawik + Tobias E. Ellman
The two Leipzig artists show two art strands developed in GDR:
While Watzlawik is still having academic signs with some pictures reminding of the classic battle scenes, Ellmann has long gone for a much feal uncurbed ductus.

By repetition of the concept, we show much more artists than in Bustle No. 01, the exhibition continues to develop concerning plethora and diversity . This time there is a massed load of art, in the environment of Richmod's Passage, used to sensory overload. The actions, concerts, fashion shows and performances taking place on opening day will be seen by over 10,000 people, who, attracted by our gigs on our stage from Neumarkt Christmas market will halt at our stage.

1994

05.02.-06.03.1994
Berthold Bell - Cologne "The Secret Life of the Palms"
Bell shows limited graphics that impress both through their compositional brilliance as well as their humor. Witty connections arise to cartoon, collage and surreal exotic scenes.

Susumu Sato / New York "Christopher Street"
Sato's photographic documentation of the Christopher Street Day in New York is created at the end of the 80s. They convey excellent, friendly atmosphere and happiness that prevails in this festival in New York.

05.02.1994
Closing Ceremony of Adult Creative Attire Party "Dress 4 Sex" - Sweat Box Cologne with DJ Marlene and Frank Herter – “GreenKomm”. Charity Action pf Group “Fetish Park” in favor of the organization Medica. Monika Hauser “Woman of the year” 1993, Help for Bosnian women. Graphics: Rüdiger Krischel
Due to the "infamous" title and a note in the Cologne Express, the event was considered too daring for the rotten KHD hall and canceled at last minute: we had to relocate to Sweat Box in Friesenstrasse. The flyer is proof of our early collaboration with “GreenKomm”-creators Frank Herter and Dirk Hollendung and the then very young DJ Marlene aka T.William.

12.03.-02.05.1994
Robert Harding - New York Performance: "Passion. Something About Time"
Harding's big, figurative and expressive oil paintings, which are held in a passionate heroic tradition, deal with man, life and death, change and the process of spiritual survival. In them there are the symbols of beauty, allowing us to imagine the horrible. On opening, the long-term performance artist staged his thoughts in an exciting performance with dancer Anja Ehrhardt and singer and violinist Gisela Weigand.
Composition: Steve Weinberg, dance: Robert Harding, Anja Ehrhardt, violin and vocals: Gisela Weigand

14.05.-20.06.1994
Sylvia Block, "20 x 30" - Painting
Block ´s works are mirrors of personally experiences, feelings and fantasies.
Of colour and found objects of everyday life she develops collage-like objects.
Petra Kremer-Horster, "Athwart" - material Images
Kremer-Horster uses sand and rust, lacquer, acrylic as material and therefore emphasizes the tactile moment of their work. Her work revolves around the picturesque and creative, less about motives.

03.09.-03.10.1994
Karin Köppel "Birth pictures and diaries"
The birthing stituation in her paintings mostly takes place in an unspecified environment. The women get their children sitting or standing and have transparent bellies, reminiscent of Naive Art, as children s well as naives depict things in their representations that cannot be “really” seen otherwise. Guitar and vocals by Zarlino "Neither Fish nor Flesh"

19.10.-22.09.1994
Jurate Mykolaityte + Algirdas Griskevicius "Lithuanian landscapes"

Subject of Mykolaitytes painting is urban culture. Ubiquitous theme is the architecture of her dreams and imagination, which is indeed painted realistic, but sometimes appears ghostly, elegiac, mournful or bizarre . An important factor is the position of the horizon line.

Griskevicius in his paintings describes landscapes, buildings, bridges and dams. He tells of the dawn of a new world, where many things are still orientated to old values or stagnating in a factious dormancy, but the impending change is palpable.

Eulogy: Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Dr. Zenonas Namavicius
Music: Marina Bondas-Klekovina and Pyotr Bondas (violin)
